An Ohio police officer was reportedly hospitalized after biting into a sandwich that had several shards of glass in it.
The incident occurred on July 18 at a local restaurant in Columbus, WSYX/WTTE reports. The officer bit into his sandwich and felt a strange texture and heard a crunching sound, police officials said.
He looked inside the sandwich and saw the glass shards. When the officer checked his mouth, he realized he was bleeding. He was taken to Grant Medical Center and was held overnight. Investigators said he is expected to be alright.
The restaurant was shut down while assault squad investigators conducted interviews. It is not clear at this time if the incident was intentional or accidental.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the names of the restaurant and police officer have not yet been released.
